Hot and Spicy Red Wine Vinaigrette

This hot and spicy red wine vinaigrette takes any salad and turns it into a zesty treat!

The first thing we always get from our garden each year is lettuce and microgreens. Summer is the season of salads and I definitely miss them while the garden is lettuce-free.

But what makes a great salad? I think we can all agree that the devil is in the details. Or in this case, the dressing.

My favourite part of a salad has always been the dressing that is on it. It can transform a simple plate of lettuce and vegetables to something more. Something grander!

I love trying new dressing recipes. The first dressing in my repetoire was very tasty oregano vinaigrette. But I have some new herbs growing in my garden this year and for that reason, we must experiment!

What is Hot and Spicy Oregano?

This year, I am growing a variety of oregano that is labeled Hot and Spicy.

This is a variety of oregano that is hotter and spicier than regular oregano. It looks similar to your basic kitchen oregano but the leaves carry a softer, silver fuzz on them.

This oregano lends a really spicy taste to this red wine vinaigrette!

What is Red Wine Vinaigrette?

Red wine vinaigrette is a salad dressing made from combining herbs, red wine vinegar and olive oil. It makes a delicious dressing that works with many different kinds of salads and topping combinations!
