Beat the Summer heat with your very own homemade popsicles! All natural ingredients with all the flavour you could possibly need.

Can we get back to Summer time now? Please.

The forecast for the next few weeks here looks to be very favourable! Not only is this incredible news for our garden but also for us. Our family is very much an outdoor living kind of family. We look forward to hot afternoons by the pond, meals on the patio and marshmallows over the fire pit.

One of the best ways to cool off on a summer’s day is with a sweet, cold popsicle made from real fruit!

Why You Should Be Making Your Own Popsicles

You should be making your own popsicles because it is easy!

Homemade popsicles take minutes to put together and I can guarantee you that will always be healthier than any storebought popsicle full of artificial sweeteners.

The best part about homemade popsicles is that you will know every single ingredient that you put into them.

What You Need for Homemade Popsicles

To make homemade popsicles, you will need some sort of popsicle mold. I purchased mine from Amazon years ago on a Daily Deal for only $10! You will also need popsicle sticks but don’t worry! Almost all of the popsicle molds that you can purchase already come with multiple reusable popsicle sticks.

It will also help to have a blender or food processor to blend the ingredients into a smoothie-like texture.

You will also need fruit and your choice of fruit juice. In this post, I am making our favourite Stawberry Mango Popsicles. For this recipe you will need:

  • Orange Juice (Apple juice also works really well!)
  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Frozen Mangos

How to Make Homemade Popsicles

In a blender, add in your juice and then add in your fruit. Close the lid of your blender and use the smoothie button to combine all of the ingredients together.

You will know it is done when there are no longer any large pieces of fruit and the mixture is smooth.

Carefully pour the smoothie mixture from the blender into your popsicle mold and insert the popsicle sticks.

Place the popsicle molds into your freezer and allow them to fully freeze for 4 to 8 hours. I like to make mine before bed and have them ready for my family the next day!

Tips

If you are using fresh fruit instead of frozen, simply add in a cup of ice into the blender and continue with the recipe!

Other Popsicle Variations to Try

You can’t go wrong with a classic Strawberry Banana Popsicle but one of our top popsicle recipes is actually made with an assortment of berries and pomegranite juice!

This Strawberry and Mango smoothie is also a great contender for sneaking in some extra greens like spinach and kale.
