I have always wanted my very own wreath for my door. Every year I browse the wreath aisle in the craft store and every year, I leave wreathless. I am a frugal lady! I cannot justify the $40 price tag on a decoration that I only pull out for a few weeks every year.

Still, every year, I browse those aisles in the store. But this year, something else caught my eye and it solved my wreath dilemma.

This year I left the store with a wreath frame in my hand instead.

Why You Should Be Making Your Own Wreath

Last year I learned how to make my own Christmas garland from tree cutting and that really was a game changer.

When I saw those wreath frames hanging in the craft aisle, my mind filled up with so many ideas. I grabbed a few different frames in different sizes.

Small frames for little wreaths in the windows and larger frames for big, full door wreaths.

This craft may seem intimidating at first, but it is actually so easy to do and takes almost no artistic ability at all. No matter how you go about making it, it is almost guaranteed to look great!

Not to mention the cost savings…

How to Make Your Own Christmas Wreath

Head out into your yard or a local park with a pair of garden shears and begin searching for various types of evergreen trees. I have a variety of evergreens in my yard like juniper, pine, spruce, fir and even a few holly bushes, which I love around Christmas.

Bring in your collection of cuttings and snip off any hanging branches or pieces that may not look pristine.

Begin weaving and shaping your cuttings around the wreath frames, using the twine or fishing line to secure it to the frame.

You can also add in other pieces to add texture. Some popular wreath pieces include ribbon, bells, chicken feather, small ornaments, lights, dried oranges and cinnamon bark. Look to websites like Pinterest or a craft store for inspiration.

I’m keeping things simple this Christmas so my wreath is very basic in nature but I think it looks beautiful.
