My house is in desperate need of a seasonal refresh. After the whole Summer season outside, the inside of my house is a wreck!

It’s not awful but I have definitely let some cleaning things go. My windows haven’t been wiped, my laundry room is backed up and overflowing with clothes that need to be folded and I have not stocked up on my homemade cleaning products in months.

I spent the past week restocking and refilling my homemade cleaning product bottles, jars and cabinets. Cleaning is so much easier when everything is stocked up and accessible.

One thing that I made for the first time in a long time were these awesome toilet cleaning tablets. Simply drop one in the toilet and walk away!

Why You Should Be Making Your Own Cleaners

Making your own homemade cleaners is not only better for the environment, you, your home and your family but it also makes sense from a financial perspective. When you begin to cut out expensive cleaners and replace them with homemade variations, you will feel the difference in your wallet.

Most homemade cleaners contain very few and very simple ingredients that you can get easily in the baking section of most grocery stores. Vinegar, baking soda and citric acid are all inexpensive ingredients that can also find double use in your kitchen.

Commercial cleaners often dangerous chemicals that can be harmful in large doses.

Do Homemade Toilet Cleaners Work?

Homemade toilet cleaners are a wonderful, toxin-free way to clean and refresh your toilet. These toilet tablets work by doing the majority of the hard work for you! The fizzing action that these tablets produce will help to loosen and soak any stains and debris that may be in your toilet bowl.

To disinfect and deodorize, these tablets contain Tea Tree Oil, which is a natural disinfectant and smells amazing.

What Do You Need to Make DIY Toilet Cleaning Tablets?

These homemade toilet cleaning tablets only contain 4 simple ingredients! You will need:

Baking Soda

Citric Acid

Vinegar

Tea Tree and Citrus Essential Oil

You will also need a few supplies

How to Make Homemade Cleaning Tablets

To make your toilet tablets, measure out the citric acid and baking soda. Add them into a bowl and whisk together.

Slowly add in the vinegar while mixing.

Pack the powder into the silicon tray and press down firmly until all the powder is used.

Allow the tablets to dry overnight and then free them from the silicone mould.

Store them in a container in your bathroom for quick access.

    1. I need to make these. Thanks for the recipe.

    2. Love this! So easy and convenient 😉

    3. Looks like an awesome recipe! Can’t wait to try. Do you think they are necessary to use once a day? I think we would go through them too quick to make it worth making them all the time. Think like once a week would work just as well? Thanks!

      1. It is definitely not necessary to use them daily! You can use them whenever you clean your toilet. I personally clean my toilets daily so that is just how often I use mine.
