Lavender Clay Face Mask

I struggle with skin care. I go through phases where I do a lot and then phases where I don’t do as much as I would like to. While I’m working on becoming more consistent with my skin care routine, I like to work in a face mask or two.

They make me feel pampered and clean.

I have been looking at Aztec clay use in masks for a while. The properties are said to really help acne prone skin, like mine. It is also shown to help scars, which I have a heaping tons of. It’s also not as greasy as other conventional face masks.

I like to use masks as part of my night time skin routine. I find that they can really set the intention of getting ready for a rest period. Which is why using lavender grown straight in my garden has become an essential part of my skin care routine.

Lavender has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, reduce redness and help soothe your skin.

To make a lavender and clay face mask, you will need:

  • 3 tablespoons of Aztec clay
  • 3 ground tablespoons of lavender
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of water

You will also need a small mixing bowl and something to mix your ingredients together.

In the small bowl, add together your clay and lavender. Add the water in slow, small amounts and mix in between to get the proper consistency. You may need to add less or more water.

Now apply the mask to your face and let sit for 20 minutes. When the clay is dry, it is time to rinse the mask off.

To reap the full benefits of the clay and lavender, apply the mask one to two times per week. Over use can cause dry skin.

  1. Can it be made in a larger (6oz) batch? How long will it keep. Should I add something to preserve it?

    1. You could definitely make this in a large batch. Generally, this mask will last about 6 months if kept in a dry, cool place.

      1. Would you add the water if you’re making a larger batch to hve it premade in a jar? Or just premix the powder and put it in a jar?
